Xbox Handheld Console on the Way

Microsoft is preparing to enter the handheld gaming console market with the Xbox Handheld Console. According to Xbox boss Phil Spencer’s statements to Bloomberg, the company is currently working on prototype devices in this area. However, it looks like gamers will have to wait a few more years to get their hands on this device.

Phil Spencer emphasized the prototype development process and stated that he believes in Microsoft’s potential to produce an innovative device. “I love building devices, I think our team can do innovative things,” Spencer said, adding that the process is based on learning and keeping up with industry developments. These statements once again confirmed the Xbox brand’s interest in the handheld console market.

Microsoft is also working to make its games available on more platforms. Phil Spencer emphasized that bringing Xbox games to platforms such as PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch is among the company’s priorities. In February, Microsoft ported four Xbox exclusives to these platforms and announced that the move had received positive feedback. “I don’t see a limit to the games in our portfolio that we can’t bring to other platforms,” Spencer said, adding that they will continue this strategy.

Xbox continues its vision of giving gamers access across devices with its cloud gaming service Xcloud. With the announcement in June, Xcloud is now available on multiple platforms, from Fire TV devices to PCs and mobile devices. Phil Spencer said they are committed to developing innovative business models and devices to reach new gamers.

Microsoft’s mobile game store initiative is part of this strategy. However, Phil Spencer announced that the launch of the store has been postponed, stating that more market research is needed.
