Xbox Magnus Will Be More Powerful Than PlayStation 6

Technical details of the next-generation console, codenamed Xbox Magnus, have been leaked. According to Moore’s Law Is Dead, a well-known hardware leaker, the AMD-developed Magnus processor will surpass the PlayStation 6 in both processing power and graphics performance. However, this superiority appears to be reflected in its price tag. The new Xbox is rumored to sell for between $800 and $1,200.

The Xbox Magnus Will Outshine the PS6 in Power, But Its Price Will Be a Bit of a Threat

Microsoft is turning its attention to the next console era as the end of the current generation draws to a close. While the company has confirmed it is working on new Xbox hardware, it has remained silent on technical details. However, the latest leak claims that AMD’s Magnus APU will be the most powerful console processor yet. With 68 RDNA 5 GPUs, an 11-core CPU, and 48GB of GDDR7 RAM, the Xbox Magnus resembles a gaming PC in terms of hardware.

In contrast, the PlayStation 6 is claimed to come with 48 RDNA 5 units and an 8-core CPU. While this difference suggests Magnus has the upper hand, particularly in technical analyses, it’s been noted that the difference in gaming experience may not be as noticeable on a television screen. However, this superiority on paper strengthens Microsoft’s claim to be the “most powerful console.”

The power difference will come at a cost. According to Moore’s Law Is Dead, Magnus’s expensive components could significantly increase the Xbox’s price. While talk of a price between $800 and $1,200 has been circulating, this has led to speculation that Microsoft will position the console more closely to the PC segment. The company’s recent portable device partnership with ASUS supports this strategy.

An official release date hasn’t been announced yet, but leaks suggest the Xbox Magnus could launch in 2027. While it will take time for Microsoft to clarify its pricing and hardware targets, a new balance of power is already being established in the console world. It looks like the next-gen competition will heat up not just in games but also in hardware.
