Yakuza Kiwami 3 Officially Announced, First Trailer Arrives

Long-awaited news for series fans has finally arrived. Yakuza Kiwami 3 has been officially announced, and its first trailer was released at Tokyo Game Show 2025. Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio reimagines the classic Yakuza 3 with modern graphics. The trailer reminds players of Kazuma Kiryu’s struggle to protect his orphanage.

Returning to the Series’ Roots with Yakuza Kiwami 3

Released in 2009, Yakuza 3 followed Kazuma Kiryu as he left his mafia life behind to run an orphanage in Okinawa. However, Kiryu’s peaceful life is once again threatened by enemies who covet his land. Yakuza Kiwami 3 reimagines this story with modern techniques, aiming to deliver an unforgettable experience for both veteran and new players. The scenes seen in the trailer retain the emotional tone of the original game while looking even more striking thanks to the revamped graphics engine.

The trailer showcased not only story scenes but also brief gameplay clips. The combat system’s adaptation to modern standards is noteworthy. The quality comparable to that of the newer Yakuza series, Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii, is also evident in Kiwami 3. Character models have also been redesigned, and some side stories and content appear to have been re-added. This suggests that content cut from the original release may return.

The game’s release date has also been officially announced. Yakuza Kiwami 3 will be released on February 12, 2026. Priced at $59.99, the remake will be available on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC platforms. This will allow the game to appeal to a wide range of players new to the series.

The Kiwami series was previously implemented in Yakuza 1 and 2, which received critical acclaim for both their story and gameplay. Yakuza Kiwami 3 follows suit, aiming to strengthen the original’s weaknesses and provide a seamless experience for a new generation of players. The elimination of imbalances in fights, the return of additional content and a more fluid structure are among the most curious features of the game.
