10 Call of Duty Games Going Offline
The latest announcement by Activision revealed that ten different games in the Call of Duty series will be closed for four hours. The list, which ranges from 2009’s Modern Warfare 2 to current games, indicates a very large and comprehensive update. However, it is not yet clear what this maintenance process serves.
What Does Call of Duty Maintenance Indicate?
There are various theories among players about this unexpected outage. While some think that the maintenance may be a preparation for the Game Pass integration, others draw attention to the possibility of a major intervention in anti-cheat systems. Especially the online sides of old games have not been able to fight cheaters for a long time.
The maintenance period in question will take place between 3 AM and 7 AM PT. Games that will be offline during this period include Modern Warfare III, Black Ops 3, Ghosts, and World War II. However, Cold War from 2020 and Vanguard from 2021 are not on the list.
Although all of the games on the list will be closed for four hours, it has not been announced whether a new update will come at the end of this period or whether there will be only server maintenance. The possibility of a mass Call of Duty addition to Game Pass stands out as another possibility that creates excitement among players.
Although there has been no official statement from Activision, it is thought that some technical infrastructure changes are on the way. It is among the claims that comprehensive anti-cheat support will be brought, especially for old games to be actively playable again. It seems likely that this development will be the final preparation stage before the addition to Game Pass.
