A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms Shares Its First Visual

HBO has released the first poster for A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, a spin-off story from Game of Thrones. The image, featuring Ser Duncan the Tall (Dunk) and his young squire Egg, played by Peter Claffey, offers the first hints at the series’ atmosphere. Adapted from George R.R. Martin’s Tales of Dunk and Egg, the series takes place during a time when the Targaryen dynasty still ruled the Iron Throne.

A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms Breathes New Life into the Game of Thrones Universe

The series’ story takes place approximately 90 years before the events of Game of Thrones. Following the journeys of Ser Duncan the Tall and young Aegon Targaryen (aka Egg), the series explores themes of friendship, loyalty, and destiny. The adventures of these two characters across various regions of Westeros will illuminate the glorious yet fragile era of the Targaryen dynasty.

Producer Ira Parker states that the series will have a “simpler, more intimate narrative” than Game of Thrones and House of the Dragon. According to Parker, the series directly reflects Dunk’s personality: unpretentious, honest, and heartfelt. Therefore, unlike previous installments, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms will feature character-driven storytelling rather than grand opening scenes.

The cast includes Peter Claffey and Dexter Sol Ansell, as well as Finn Bennett, Bertie Carvel, Tanzyn Crawford, Daniel Ings, and Sam Spruell. Filming completed in Belfast, the series will visually showcase the diverse facets of Westeros, focusing on personal stories and character conflicts rather than battles.

The first season of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms will be based on George R.R. Martin’s 1998 novella, The Hedge Knight. If the series is successful, subsequent seasons will also adapt The Sworn Sword and The Mystery Knight. HBO plans to premiere the series in January 2026.

This series, which returns to Westeros after Game of Thrones, is poised to draw attention with its human stories rather than giant dragons. After the first image, fans are already confident that Dunk and Egg’s adventure will be the show’s new star.
