Remedy Entertainment recently announced that they are pushing the Alan Wake 2 release date to October 27. Studio reported that they are developing Alan Wake 2 since at least 2017 and finally announced with big hype and it will finally be available in October. But recent news shows that the schedule is changed.
Alan Wake 2 release date changed
While October is already packed with numerous high-profile titles like Assassin’s Creed Mirage, Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and Spider-Man 2, Remedy previously stated that the studio isn’t worried about the competition for Alan Wake 2.
Remedy’s Communications Director further mentioned that the studio’s only worry is about making the best game possible and that competition will always be there. In any case, it appears that the company may be walking back on that statement now following the announcement of the delay.

Remedy, delayed the launch of Alan Wake 2 to October 27, a delay of 10 days. The studio states that the idea of adjusting the launch date was to give gamers “more space for everyone to enjoy their favorite games.” While the new date does avoid some of the other highly-anticipated titles, it will now be released during the same week as Sony’s Spider-Man 2.

In the 2010, the original Alan Wake was released within the same week of Rockstar’s Red Dead Redemption. There is no clear opinion regarding this delay would impact the game’s sales.
A few months ago, the upcoming title sparked some backlash from gaming community that they mentioned Alan Wake 2 will be only digital release. Although, the company defended the decision stating that part of the reason for the approach is to give “more time to polish the game.”
The lack of a physical disc would mean that Remedy could technically keep working on the game until its release date. Now that it’s pushed further by 10 days, the studio has a bigger window to work out bugs and glitches before hitting stores.

Alan Wake 2 isn’t the only game delayed in the October launches. Early this week, Ubisoft announced that Assassin’s Creed Mirage will release on October 5, a week before its original launch date. While Alan Wake fans might have hoped for a similar announcement from Remedy, the delay would mean players will only have to wait 10 days longer to experience Alan Wake 2.
Alan Wake 2 release date set to October 27, 2023 for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
