AMD Reduces Game Loading Times by 95 Percent

A significant development has been announced for gamers using AMD graphics cards. Advanced Shader Delivery, developed by Microsoft, is now supported on AMD graphics cards released in 2019 and later. This technology can reduce loading times in some games by up to 95% and also decrease shader-related stuttering.

Loading Times Shortened on AMD-Powered PCs

Advanced Shader Delivery prepares some shader compilation processes in the cloud instead of doing them on the player’s computer. After the game is downloaded and installed, these prepared shader data are sent to the user. This significantly reduces waiting times, especially during initial launches and intense scene transitions.

According to Microsoft’s example, Forza Horizon 6’s loading time was reduced from 1.5 minutes to approximately 4 seconds using this technology. The test used an AMD Ryzen 7 5800 processor and a Radeon RX 7600 graphics card, demonstrating that the feature isn’t limited to the latest hardware.

Some supported games include:

  • Ark Survival Ascended
  • Avowed
  • Call of Duty: Black Ops 6
  • Clair Obscur: Expedition 33
  • Control
  • Dead Island 2
  • Final Fantasy 16
  • Forza Horizon 5
  • Forza Horizon 6
  • Forza Motorsport
  • Gears of War: Reloaded
  • Grand Theft Auto V Enhanced
  • Hogwarts Legacy
  • Lies of P
  • Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024
  • Persona 3 Reload
  • S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl
  • Starfield
  • The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered
  • The Outer Worlds 2

This feature requires Windows 11 24H2, the latest Xbox Gaming Services, AMD Adrenalin 26.6.1 or later, and an AMD graphics card with RDNA 1 architecture or newer. Nvidia support is planned to arrive sometime in 2026.
