The new Special Look trailer for Avengers: Doomsday, released during D23, brought far more details than we expected. Victor Von Doom’s origins are now clearer, and his past tragedy and connection to the Fantastic Four are becoming clearer. Furthermore, the trailer includes some important scenes and moments that strengthen theories potentially leading to Secret Wars.

Doctor Doom Comes From Earth-828

One of the most important confirmations from the trailer is that Doctor Doom originates from Earth-828. Sue Storm’s narration suggests that Victor once had a close relationship with the Fantastic Four and may not be as dark as we initially thought.

Latveria’s absence from the United Nations in the Fantastic Four film also now makes more sense. Victor’s complete isolation from the world may be rooted in a personal tragedy rather than a political decision.

Victor Doom Lost His Wife and Son

The MCU appears to be deviating significantly from the comics in Doctor Doom’s origin story. The trailer clearly reveals that Victor has lost his wife and son.

In the comics, an experiment he underwent while trying to save his mother’s soul and the resulting facial injury played a significant role in Doom’s descent into the dark path. Avengers: Doomsday, however, may directly link the character’s motivation to the loss of his family.

A Ruined New York: A Big Question Mark

The trailer shows a completely ruined New York, but it doesn’t specify which universe it belongs to. At first glance, one might think Doom did this, but it’s also possible the scene was deliberately misleading.

This could be Earth-828, or it could be Earth-10005 where the X-Men live, or another reality we’ve seen before. There are even theories about Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man universe, but none of these have been confirmed.

Doom’s “Stolen Lives” Phrase

One of Victor’s most intriguing lines in the trailer is, “You all lived stolen lives.” It’s not yet clear who this is directed at.

One theory suggests Doom might be referencing the lives of characters like Steve Rogers and Peggy Carter in different timelines. Another possibility is that Doom believes his world was sacrificed during the protection of Earth-616. In this case, Victor’s revenge might not only be personal but directly against the Multiverse system.

Doctor Doom May Be Preparing the End of the Multiverse

The trailer suggests that Doom won’t be just a classic villain fighting heroes. It’s possible Victor is deliberately manipulating events to trigger the massive clash known as the Final Incursion.

If this theory proves correct, his goal might be to create a new world from destroyed realities. Battleworld emerged in exactly this way in the Secret Wars comics. The possibility of Doom seizing Loki’s power is also among the theories being discussed.

Franklin Richards Could Be Central to the Story

New images show the Human Torch embracing Franklin Richards. The world in the background appears to be falling apart. We don’t know when the scene takes place, but it’s clear Franklin won’t be just a minor character in the film.

In the Secret Wars comics, Doom altered reality, making Sue Storm his wife and Franklin his son. The fact that Doom in the MCU has lost his own family could take this story to a much more personal and darker point.

Doom Revives the Sentinels

The biggest action moment in the trailer comes after Doctor Doom incapacitates Thor. Victor easily throws Stormbreaker aside and then reactivates his Sentinel army.

Previously leaked footage showed these Sentinels fighting the Avengers, X-Men, and Fantastic Four. The new trailer confirms these scenes are real. This is likely one of the major battles in the middle of the film. It wouldn’t be surprising if Doom unleashed his own Doombot army in the finale.

The Avengers: Doomsday Special Look trailer doesn’t give all the answers yet, but it clearly suggests that Doctor Doom will be much more than just an ordinary villain in the film. Especially if the connections to Earth-828, Franklin Richards, and the Final Incursion are progressing in the right direction, the film could directly lay the groundwork for Secret Wars.
