His name frequently came up in fan casting calls for the role of Wesker in the Resident Evil universe. His ability to successfully portray charismatic, dark characters with blonde hair made this pairing quite logical. However, behind the scenes, Starr’s perspective on this matter is somewhat different.

Judging by his recent statements, Antony Starr isn’t as enthusiastic about the Wesker role as we might think. In fact, he believes this pairing is largely based on physical resemblance. In his own words, people associate him with the role more because of his blonde hair, implying that this is somewhat superficial.
Another important issue is age. Starr explicitly states that a younger actor should have been chosen for this character. Currently 50 years old, he believes a different choice would be more logical for a dynamic and long-term character like Wesker. Interestingly, Wesker isn’t actually that young in the Resident Evil universe, so it’s a matter of perspective.
Of course, it’s not just age; career choices might also play a role. Starr’s recent association with powerful and charismatic villains pushes him towards similar roles, something some actors particularly want to avoid. Constantly playing similar characters can, at a certain point, limit an actor’s career.
On the other hand, the tendency of new Resident Evil projects to focus on more original stories rather than directly rehashing classic characters weakens the possibility of Wesker.
