Project Codenamed Watari Coming to Switch 2

According to the leak, the game’s release date is set as November 25, 2025. If the claims are true, this will be the first game Arc System Works has prepared for Nintendo’s next-generation console. Whether “Watari” is a new game or a port is still a matter of debate. The name means “transition” in Japanese, which led some users to comment that this could be a port of an existing game.

Still, there is very limited information about the project. The fact that Unreal Engine 5.4 is used indicates that the production will be technically up to modern standards. Although this detail increases the possibility that the project was developed from scratch, the possibility of a remake or expanded port with visual enhancements is not ruled out. Series such as Guilty Gear or BlazBlue are among the first options that come to mind.

Although an official statement about the game has not been made yet, it is thought that the introduction is not too far away. The first images of this project are expected to be shared at the Summer Games Fest 2025 event. If we are really facing a brand new game developed for the Switch 2, this announcement could be exciting for Arc System Works fans.

Arc System Works is known for its high-quality animations and dynamic gameplay design. For this reason, it is already a matter of curiosity how the studio will take advantage of the hardware capabilities of the Switch 2. This mysterious project, codenamed Watari, may come up with more details in the coming months.
