Assassin’s Creed Series will be set in Ancient Rome

Assassin’s Creed had been quietly progressing with its TV adaptation for a long time, but this time there’s a truly exciting development. It’s been confirmed that the live-action series for Netflix will be set in Ancient Rome. Moreover, with filming already underway, the project has now reached a concrete stage.

Ancient Roman Era Begins in Assassin’s Creed Series

The fact that the story will take place in Rome in 64 AD gives an important idea about the tone of the series. This period is known in history for the Great Fire of Rome and carries a very dark atmosphere, associated with Emperor Nero. Considering the secret wars and political intrigues of the Assassin’s Creed universe, this period actually seems like a very fitting choice for the series.

The ever-expanding cast indicates that the project is now progressing seriously. With the newly announced actors, it’s clear the series will not only feature big names but also offer space for diverse characters. This means we can expect a more layered structure offering different perspectives, rather than a narrow story focused on a single main character.

The fact that filming will take place entirely in Italy is another plus. The choice of a well-established studio like Cinecittà suggests serious attention to detail in the production. Therefore, there’s a high probability we’ll see a visually stunning production that captures the “real Roman feel.”

The series is scheduled for release in 2027, so there’s still some time. But at least the project’s direction is clear, and it’s not just an empty announcement. Frankly, we haven’t seen such a promising starting point for the Assassin’s Creed universe in a long time.
