Assassin’s Creed Shadows Gets Parkour Updates
Ubisoft has announced that it will make significant changes to parkour mechanics for its new game Assassin’s Creed Shadows. The company stated that players will be able to make evasive moves during the parkour and that these innovations will add a new dimension to stealth and movement strategies. In the game, two different characters named Naoe and Yasuke will be played with their unique abilities. Naoe’s agility and parkour skills will contrast with Yasuke’s more aggressive and powerful approach.
Parkour Mechanics in Assassin’s Creed Shadows
Although the Assassin’s Creed series is known for its parkour mechanics, these features were limited in previous games. For example, in Assassin’s Creed Mirage, which was released in 2023, only certain areas could be used to land safely from a high place. However, this situation changes with Assassin’s Creed Shadows. Naoe will be able to land on the ground without making any noise and without taking damage by landing with a rolling motion after jumping. In addition, the safest landing point will be automatically determined when the evade button is pressed during the jump.
Naoe’s abilities include climbing walls, swinging with a hook, and dodging attacks while running. Yasuke, on the other hand, cannot make these agile moves because he is a more heavily armored character. However, Yasuke’s powerful and direct attack style will offer a different gameplay experience in stealth and puzzles.
Ubisoft announced that it designed the parkour paths more carefully for Assassin’s Creed Shadows and aimed to clearly separate the gameplay styles of the two characters. While Naoe’s hook can be used to reach rooftops, Yasuke does not have such moves. In addition, both characters can make quick evasive moves while taking cover, but the effect and speed of these moves vary depending on the character.
According to Ubisoft’s statement, these innovations will offer players a freer and more strategic gaming experience. Assassin’s Creed Shadows will be released on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC platforms on February 14, 2025. Players are eagerly awaiting this new game in the series with its renewed parkour mechanics and different character dynamics.
