Carrie Patel is Moving into a New Era After Avowed

Carrie Patel confirmed on LinkedIn that she has started the game director position at Night School. There is no information yet about the new project of the studio, known for its atmospheric narrative games such as Oxenfree and Oxenfree II. However, Patel’s experience in narrative design could make significant contributions to the new Night School game.

Patel, who has held various roles throughout his career at Obsidian, including not only director but also narrative lead and senior story designer, has taken on a great responsibility, especially with Avowed. His departure suggests that there may be some changes in the game’s creative process. The new director of Avowed has not yet been announced, but it is stated that the process is continuing as Obsidian planned.

As Netflix Games’ investments in the gaming world continue to increase, bringing in an experienced name like Patel is a remarkable move. It is currently unclear what kind of project Night School will develop with Patel, but this collaboration is being followed with interest across the industry.

On the Obsidian front, production of The Outer Worlds 2 is ongoing. Brandon Adler is taking on the directorship of this project, and new information about both this game and Avowed is expected to be shared at the studio’s special presentation on June 8. The path Avowed will follow after Carrie Patel may also become clear at this event.
