Brand New Day Effect Revives Spider-Man Games
Spider-Man: Brand New Day, following its strong theatrical release, has also boosted the gaming world. Insomniac Games’ PC Spider-Man titles are once again gaining popularity, and player searches for the series have visibly increased. In short, the excitement generated by the film has significantly increased the number of people wanting to return to the virtual streets of New York.
Spider-Man Games Return to Steam Lists
Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered and Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 have re-entered Steam’s global best-selling games list. The Remastered version climbed to sixth place, while the second game reached ninth. Both titles also achieved their highest concurrent player numbers in over a year. Brand New Day’s opening weekend box office revenue of $927 million seems to be the biggest reason for this sudden surge.
Player interest wasn’t limited to Steam listings alone. Google searches for terms like “new Spider-Man game” and “Spider-Man Brand New Day game” increased by 40 percent. Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, however, didn’t achieve the same level of success as the other two games. Despite being shorter and more limited in scope, it’s considered one of the most enjoyable titles in the series, which is frankly disappointing considering it’s been somewhat overshadowed.
All three games are on sale on Steam and the Epic Games Store. Spider-Man Remastered is 60% off, now priced at $23.99, while Miles Morales is also 60% off, now at $19.99. Spider-Man 2 is 33% off, now selling for $40.19. Fanatical offers Steam keys for the first two games for even lower prices, at $21.59 and $17.99 respectively.
This surge in sales once again demonstrates the continued high demand for PlayStation games on PC. Despite this, it’s suggested that Sony is leaning towards keeping future single-player titles console-exclusive. Therefore, whether Marvel’s Wolverine and the new Spider-Man games will come to PC remains uncertain. For now, the Brand New Day hype has been enough to bring Spider-Man games back to the forefront of the news.
