Call of Duty VPN Users Strictly Controlled
Activision has taken new measures to ensure fairness in the Call of Duty series by targeting VPN users. In Black Ops 6 and Warzone, these new practices, led by security team RICOCHET, aim to combat account boosting and VPN lobbies.
New Regulations for VPN Users in Call of Duty
Call of Duty players have long used VPNs to access less competitive regions. This was seen as an advantage, especially for streamers to capture impressive clips of low-skill players in the same lobby. However, with Activision’s latest updates, this advantage is disappearing.
According to a statement made by RICOCHET and Treyarch, the new regulations will significantly reduce the abuse of VPNs, if not completely prevent their use. In particular, by making it mandatory for players to play matches with ping thresholds close to their own regions, VPN manipulations will be limited.
Another important part of the update is the AFK (inactivity) detection for account boosts. In this way, the accounts of players who try to earn points by remaining inactive for a certain period of time will be detected faster and the necessary sanctions will be applied.
Call of Duty’s competitive mode, Ranked Play mode in Black Ops 6, aims to offer a fairer gaming environment with these new regulations. Although such cheating has been encountered in games such as Modern Warfare III in the past, Activision’s new measures are expected to significantly reduce the number of cheaters.
