Chris Hemsworth Breaks His Silence About Thor 5
Chris Hemsworth, who has portrayed Thor since 2011, has become one of the most important figures in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The actor, preparing to return in Avengers: Doomsday, was interpreted by many fans as a “farewell signal” due to the emotional tone in the latest trailer. However, Hemsworth isn’t as indecisive about Thor 5 as we thought.
A “Several More Times” Message for Thor 5
In a statement on the Smartless podcast, Hemsworth said he wants to portray Thor at least “a few more times.” Referring to his discussions with Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige, the actor stated that audiences now expect dramatic twists from the character and that the next step could again be “different and original.” This strengthens the possibility of a more serious tone for Thor 5.
While the actor didn’t directly delve into contract details, the phrase “a few more times” suggests both a team film and a solo project. With Thor almost certainly appearing in Avengers: Secret Wars, there’s speculation that he could continue his presence in the MCU’s new era after Secret Wars. This suggests Thor 5 isn’t entirely off the table.
Hemsworth’s eagerness is thought to be influenced by a shift in tone. The actor previously criticized the overly humorous approach in Thor: Love and Thunder, saying the character almost became a parody. The darker, more mature atmosphere seen in the Avengers: Doomsday trailer suggests Thor 5 could take a more dramatic turn this time.
From Marvel’s perspective, Thor is still a safe bet. Love and Thunder, despite its controversial nature, managed to surpass $760 million at the box office. If the right tone is struck, Thor 5 could combine both nostalgia and a new era for the character. It seems the God of Thunder isn’t about to leave the stage anytime soon.
