Countdown Begins for EA Origin

EA Origin is officially shutting down on April 17, 2025. Electronic Arts announced that this decision is related to Microsoft ending support for 32-bit software. Users will have to use the EA App to access their games. The EA App requires a 64-bit Windows operating system, and games in Origin accounts will be automatically transferred when users log in. However, data for games that do not support cloud saves must be transferred manually.

EA App Coming Instead of EA Origin

EA Origin first met with users in June 2011. However, the EA App, which was introduced in October 2022, was designed to replace Origin in the long term. EA announced at the time that Origin would be phased out, and this process is finally being completed.

The EA App was developed to improve the user experience and provide a more modern platform. While the transfer of games and saves is generally automatic, manual data transfer may be required for games that do not support cloud saves. Additionally, users who upgrade their operating system do not have to re-download their games, while those who switch to a new computer must transfer data.

The biggest reason for the closure of EA Origin is that Microsoft has ended support for 32-bit software. This has led EA to completely switch to the more modern and compatible platform EA App. EA states that this change will provide a more reliable and faster experience for users.

Although the closure of EA Origin is seen as the end of an era in the gaming world, the fact that the EA App offers more features and has a modern structure is considered an advantage for players. Users can complete their preparations by April 17, 2025 and make their transition to the new platform without any problems.
