Devil May Cry Remake Plans On The Agenda
Devil May Cry, one of the legendary action game series, has once again come to the fore with remake rumors. The creator of the series, Hideki Kamiya, did not completely close the door to this possibility in the statements he made on his YouTube channel. However, it has already been clear that his approach to the project will be different from a classic remake.
Devil May Cry Remake Statement from Hideki Kamiya
Devil May Cry’s original director Hideki Kamiya answered questions from fans in a video published on his YouTube channel on May 8. Responding to the question, “If you had the chance to remake Devil May Cry, what would you change?” Kamiya said that he found the idea interesting and would actually want to do it. However, the statements he added afterwards may surprise those expecting a classic remake.
Kamiya said, “This game was created with a design approach from 24 years ago. So I have no desire to remake it exactly with today’s technology and game design.” These words show that a possible remake could be approached with a different interpretation rather than being faithful to the original. Whether the dynamics that form the basis of the game will be preserved remains unclear.
Kamiya mentioned not only Devil May Cry in his speech, but also another classic, Viewtiful Joe. Stating that he wanted to remake it as well, the director revealed with this statement that he is still attached to his old projects. However, an official development process has not yet started for any of these games.
Although these statements are exciting for fans of the series, there are no concrete plans or announcements yet. Nevertheless, the fact that Hideki Kamiya has not completely closed this topic suggests that a remake project may come to the agenda depending on Capcom’s decisions in the future. Especially as the 25th anniversary approaches, the rebirth of Devil May Cry may not be a surprise.
