Doom: The Dark Ages DLC will be Almost like a New Game

Last year’s Doom: The Dark Ages, while delivering solid gameplay, failed to create the significant impact expected. Compared to the momentum the series gained after 2016, it had a quieter launch period. Despite this, the Doom brand is known for its strong comebacks. Now, statements from id Software suggest the game may be getting a second release.

Doom: The Dark Ages DLC Will Feel Like a “Sequel”

Hugo Martin, in a Slayers Club broadcast, described the upcoming DLC as “massive,” saying it feels almost like a sequel. Addressing long-awaited players, Martin stated that the expansion pack’s scope could feel even larger than the main game. This statement clearly indicates that the DLC will not be limited to just a few new missions.

Doom: The Dark Ages DLC will be Almost like a New Game

The expansion pack is said to offer a different approach to gameplay. Martin stated that the sections he played on the stream differed significantly from the pace and style of the main game. This suggests that the DLC may not only add content but also bring structural innovations. While Doom’s aggressive and fluid combat design will be preserved, it seems possible that the experience will be diversified with new mechanics.

Furthermore, there are rumors of a significant increase in the amount of content. New enemy types, different areas, and larger-scale maps are possible. If id Software truly designed this pack as a “mini-series,” this could mean a significant increase in both story and gameplay length.

For now, no official trailer or release date has been shared. However, these ambitious statements from the director could create a second impetus for Doom: The Dark Ages. This DLC may be the move that reveals the game’s true potential.
