Dying Light: Retouched Update Date Announced

Dying Light, which Techland has been supporting for years, is getting a comprehensive update as it enters its tenth year. This update, called Dying Light: Retouched, has been long awaited and now has a release date. This version, which focuses on improving the visual and audio quality rather than recreating the game, also brings with it many technical details.

Dying Light: Retouched to be Released on June 26

Techland emphasizes that the Retouched version is not a remaster, but a major technical update that takes the existing Dying Light experience forward. Textures, lighting, and physics-based visual elements are being improved with this version. The viewing distance is increased from 260 percent to 340 percent, allowing players to see the game world in more detail.

Dying Light: Retouched Update Date Announced

The new update added an “8K Ultra” level shadow quality option. In addition, lighting on flat surfaces has been improved, providing a deeper look. These touches to the game’s graphical structure aim to provide satisfactory results even on modern hardware.

In addition to the visuals, there are also important innovations on the audio side. Original composer Pawel Blaszcak has rejoined the project with updated music. Both remaster versions of old pieces and new music bring a fresh breath to the Dying Light atmosphere.

Techland also explained why this update hasn’t come for a long time. Stating that they are working with technology that is over a decade old, the team drew attention to the difficulties of combining modern development experiences with the old engine. Dying Light: Retouched will be released for free for all existing users on PC, PlayStation and Xbox platforms on June 26.
