Fallout 3 Player Finds the Secret Vault We All Missed 16 Years Later
Sharing his findings on Reddit, BoyDynamo posted a few screenshots showing that Bethesda had the future in mind when designing Fallout 3. Those familiar with the Fallout series know that this crypt is where players begin in the MMORPG Fallout 76. It’s unclear if this is really a foresight or if Fallout 76 retroactively used this concept, but it shows how connected the Fallout universe is.
Reddit user BigJuicy17 said, “I’m not sure if they planned the games this long. They might have just decided to add more information and then use it later,” commented Reddit user BigJuicy17. This shows how, as with Bethesda’s Elder Scrolls series, information from previous games can serve as a foundation for new games.
Regardless of when the inspiration for the mention of Vault 76 came, it’s always great to see recalls and foreshadowing being used in such an expansive series. Reddit user Chueskes wrote, “Fallout New Vegas, Fallout 4 and 76 are all hinted at in this game. Lyons tells his character about the troubles in the west, Zimmer has a synthetic containment mission, and Vault 76 is mentioned in a terminal and by an alien abductor,” said Chueskes, noting the rich storytelling of the Fallout series.
