Fallout 76 Brings Playable Ghouls in 2025
Fallout 76 will introduce playable ghoul characters in a standalone update in early 2025, a first for the series. Players who dream of being immune to the effects of radiation in Appalachia will soon be able to realize their dreams.
Fallout 76 First Time Playable Ghoul Characters
Walton Goggins’ ghoul character from Amazon’s Fallout TV series was a huge hit, and Bethesda felt it was the ideal time to add this theme to Fallout 76. While Appalachia’s toughest veterans, like Cooper Howard, have survived the harsh conditions, the new update will give them the chance to experience these challenges from a different perspective.
With the update, once your character reaches level 50, you will have the chance to play as a ghoul through a special quest. If you’ve already passed this level, hopefully this option will be available immediately.
Becoming a ghoul will have a number of practical effects in the game. The most obvious advantage is that you will now be able to interact with radiation differently and use it to your advantage. You’ll also be able to take advantage of the new ghoul-specific perk cards, adding a different dimension to your build.
However, being a ghoul comes with some disadvantages. It will affect how different factions interact with you, and some factions will treat you differently.
You’ll be able to customize your ghoul character’s appearance, so you won’t have to worry about the radiated appearance matching your character’s current face. Also, if you prefer to become human again in the future, you will have that option as well.
