First Images for Fallout 3 Remake may have Surfaced

Rumors about a Fallout 3 Remake have been circulating in the gaming world for a long time, and this time a noteworthy statement has emerged. Veteran game journalist Jeff Gerstmann said he saw footage of a project in development. However, it is currently unknown whether this work is an official production confirmed by Bethesda or a fan project.

Fallout 3 Remake Footage May Belong to a Real Project

Jeff Gerstmann answered a question about Fallout 3 Remake in episode 213 of The Jeff Gerstmann Show, which aired on July 7th. Those who want to listen to Gerstmann’s explanation can go to the 1 hour 43 minute 20 second segment of the YouTube video. The journalist stated that he doesn’t think Bethesda would develop such a remake directly themselves.

According to Gerstmann, another team has been working extensively on a remake of Fallout 3. While emphasizing that the project hasn’t officially been revealed, the journalist stated he wasn’t even sure if development was still underway. Nevertheless, he claimed to have personally seen Fallout 3 Remake footage and that someone was at least preparing a playable or showable version.

The most significant ambiguity in the statement is that Gerstmann didn’t explicitly say the footage belonged to an official Bethesda project. Therefore, the work in question could be a large-scale fan-made project rather than a licensed remake. The Fallout community has previously undertaken similar projects on large scale, such as Siege of New Vegas, Chicago, and The New West.

Meanwhile, rumors that Obsidian is focusing on a new Fallout project instead of the Avowed sequel have fueled speculation. However, there is no confirmed link between this game and Fallout 3 Remake. Until Bethesda or Microsoft make an official announcement, the source of the alleged footage and the future of the project remain unclear.
