Geralt’s Voice is With Us Again in The Witcher
Netflix continues to expand the Witcher universe, this time drawing attention with the anime film “The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep”. One of the biggest surprises of the film was the return of Doug Cockle, who brought Geralt to life in CD Projekt Red’s famous Witcher games, as the voice of Geralt. Cockle is described by fans as “indispensable” because he uniquely reflects the character’s inner conflicts and complex psychology.

The Director of “The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep”, Kang Hei Chul stated that Doug Cockle’s inclusion in the project was a great opportunity. Chul said, “When Doug Cockle first came to the studio, he fascinated us all with the voice he recorded. At that moment, we realized once again how important Geralt’s voice is.” Cockle not only read the dialogues, but also skillfully reflected Geralt’s complex and multi-layered personality with his tone of voice.
Speaking about Cockle’s performance, Chul said, “He is truly unique. He captured the character’s inner struggle, his cool judgment, and the warm, humorous side that emerged from time to time, so well that he impressed everyone.” This return has Witcher fans excited.
“Sirens of the Deep” is based on one of Andrzej Sapkowski’s short stories, “A Little Sacrifice.” However, the anime adaptation expands the story significantly. Geralt is hired to convince a mermaid to come ashore, but this simple task leads to a conflict between humans and merpeople that threatens war. The film follows Geralt’s struggle to resolve this complex situation.
“Sirens of the Deep” will be Netflix’s second anime film to the Witcher universe and will be released on February 11, 2025. Following the success of the first anime film, “Nightmare of the Wolf,” this new film has also created great anticipation. On the other hand, as preparations for the 4th season of the live-action series continue, the question of Liam Hemsworth taking over the role of Geralt continues to be discussed among fans.
