Ghost of Yotei crushed Tsushima
Ghost of Yotei, one of PlayStation’s strongest recent titles, has surpassed expectations. Often compared to its predecessor, Ghost of Tsushima, the game quickly shifted the balance with its performance. Official statements from Sony indicate that this success isn’t just a matter of perception; Ghost of Yotei has also outsold its predecessor in terms of sales.
Ghost of Yotei Takes the Lead in Sales
According to information shared by Sony’s chief financial officer, Ghost of Yotei achieved higher sales figures than Ghost of Tsushima during the same period as its release. Described as a “key title” by Sony, the game also made a significant contribution to the company’s financial results for the quarter.
Ghost of Yotei’s performance aligns with its initial sales figure of 3.3 million in its first month. Interestingly, the game’s budget was largely similar to Tsushima’s. Despite this, the results show that the sequel has further enhanced both its brand strength and player interest.
The fact that the game was released exclusively for PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 5 Pro makes this success even more significant. While there’s no official announcement regarding a PC version yet, this sales momentum could be further boosted by future platform expansions. This possibility is considered important for Ghost of Yotei’s long-term performance.
The development team, Sucker Punch, is also keeping the door open for the game’s future. A possible expansion pack to further deepen the story is on the agenda. While no concrete plans have been shared yet, Ghost of Yotei’s strong launch seems to have further solidified the series’ place within the PlayStation ecosystem.
