GTA 6 Could Make Some Vehicles Indispensable for Players

Rockstar Games’ long-awaited GTA 6 could set the series on a new path not only with its visual quality but also with its gameplay mechanics. Recent discussions surrounding the weapon handling system, in particular, suggest the game could adopt a more realistic approach. Players are suggesting a system where players can stow their weapons in the trunk of their vehicles, similar to the saddle system in Red Dead Redemption 2.

GTA 6 Could Instill a “Favorite Vehicle” Habit in Players

A rapidly popular discussion on Reddit has raised concerns that GTA 6 could introduce a new dimension to the vehicle system. Players are requesting that Rockstar integrate the “loyalty” system implemented for horses in Red Dead Redemption 2 into vehicles. This way, weapons won’t magically appear in every vehicle; they will only be accessible in a vehicle that has a “own car.”

This idea is quite appealing to some players. More realistic inventory management could deepen the game’s tactical aspect. However, some argue that this goes against the spirit of GTA, as the series inherently embraces the freedom to quickly switch vehicles and use any vehicle available to escape chaos.

One player summarized the situation as follows:

“In RDR2, I completed the entire game with the same horse, but in GTA, I didn’t drive my car for more than 10 minutes. If the weapons are limited to one car, this system won’t work.”

It remains to be seen how Rockstar will balance this. Players are eager to see if the classic “character carrying all the weapons” mentality will change.

Ahead of GTA 6’s 2025 release, the development team wants to combine both freedom and realism in gameplay. If rumors of a trunk system are true, this feature could make some vehicles truly indispensable. This time, players won’t just choose the fastest car, but also the most reliable weapon cache.
