GTA Online Community Still Concerned About FiveM
Rockstar’s acquisition of FiveM was seen as a major step toward officially establishing role-playing experiences in the GTA Online universe. However, even months after this move, questions persist in the minds of players. Allegations surrounding the development team, lack of updates, and lack of support for the role-playing servers are fueling unrest within the community. While anticipation for Grand Theft Auto 6 is rising, concerns about FiveM’s future remain strong.
FiveM Concerns Persist for GTA Online
FiveM’s official acquisition by Rockstar initially sparked hope in the role-playing community. However, a website titled “Fall of FiveM,” which emerged in February, featured serious accusations against the developers. These allegations alleged a hostile takeover and that Rockstar was collaborating with the wrong people. At the time, many players left the servers, and Rockstar made no public statement.
While the crisis seemed to have subsided in the intervening years, new developments have revitalized the community. It has become clear that the improvements made in most of Cfx.re’s latest update notes were actually provided by the community. This has further reinforced the perception that Rockstar’s support for FiveM is inadequate. Furthermore, the fact that role-playing servers are still not compatible with the Enhanced version of Grand Theft Auto V is fueling the backlash.
The focus on Rockstar is undoubtedly Grand Theft Auto 6. The game, delayed to May 2026, has absorbed the company’s entire focus. However, this focus reinforces the feeling that FiveM is being neglected. Players are saying that new eyes should be directed to FiveM and the Cfx.re team. Otherwise, these role-playing communities will suffer long-term damage.
Some fans claim that the delays may be due to the official role-playing servers planned for GTA 6, called “SixM.” However, reliable leaks indicate that these claims are untrue. Rockstar’s refusal to even provide the Cfx.re team with the source code for GTA V suggests a similar situation applies to GTA 6. In other words, the problem isn’t a new project, but rather the lack of support provided to existing servers.
All these developments point to a common concern within the community: If FiveM is progressing so slowly, we shouldn’t place excessive expectations on SixM and GTA 6’s RPG servers. For now, the greatest wish seems to be for players to have at least a seamless online experience.
