GTA Producer Makes Action Comedy Game

Dan Houser, one of the names behind the Grand Theft Auto series, is continuing his career after Rockstar Games with a new project. Houser’s Absurd Ventures studio focuses on multi-platform content production. The studio’s newly announced Absurdaverse universe will feature stories in many different media formats, from video games to animations, podcasts to books. The focus of Absurdaverse is a story-driven action-comedy game currently in development.

Absurdaverse After GTA

Absurdaverse was designed as a new story universe filled with different and unusual characters. With this project, Houser aims to create not only a video game, but also a universe that can be expanded in animation, comics and other media formats. In this context, a podcast series called “A Better Paradise” and a crime-themed comic book project called “American Caper” will also be launched this year.

The first visual of the Absurdaverse that was announced draws attention with 20 different figures from a wide range of genres such as skateboarders, hippies, Vikings and even modern-dressed characters. This variety of characters is reminiscent of the humorous and critical tone of the GTA series. However, Houser states that the Absurdaverse games will not be open-world games like GTA.

It was announced that the first video game set in the Absurdaverse universe will be an action-comedy genre. The game will have a story-focused structure and new details are expected to be shared in 2025. Houser hints that the dark humor and social criticism we see in the GTA series will also find a place in this project.

Although the stories of the Absurdaverse will come to life in different media formats in 2025, the release date of the game is not yet clear.
