Halo Campaign Evolved Coming to PS5
Halo Campaign Evolved, with its new trailer released during the Xbox Games Showcase, clarified not only its release date but also its platform strategy. Halo, one of Microsoft’s most iconic brands, will be available on Xbox Series X/S, PC, and PlayStation 5 on the same day with this new remake project. While Gears of War: E-Day remains an Xbox console exclusive, the opposite approach taken by Halo became one of the most talked-about topics of the showcase.
Halo Campaign Evolved Expands to Multiple Platforms
According to Microsoft’s announcement, Halo: Campaign Evolved will be released on July 28th for Xbox Series X/S, PC, and PlayStation 5. The game will be added to the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass libraries from day one. The standard edition will be priced at $49.99, while players who purchase the Premium Edition and Collector’s Edition will receive up to 5 days of early access. The Premium Edition is listed at $69.99, and the Collector’s Edition at $199.99.
The new trailer showcased not only a modernized version of the original campaign but also new content specifically designed for the remake. The game will feature three new missions focusing on Sgt. Johnson. This story arc, titled Operation: METEORITE, takes place a year before the events of the main game and will take players on a covert UNSC operation aboard a Covenant research vessel.
The most notable aspect of these new missions will be space combat. Space conflicts were last prominent in the Halo series during the Halo Reach era. Halo: Campaign Evolved brings this element back. The new story arc was created in collaboration with science fiction writer Troy Denning, known for the Halo novels. The missions, featuring Master Chief and Sgt. Johnson, will depict how a simple operation gradually transforms into a more complex threat.
Halo’s arrival on PlayStation 5 has become a significant symbol of Xbox’s new platform policy. Considering the series has been synonymous with the Xbox brand for years, Halo Campaign Evolved is not just a remake, but stands out as one of the most notable examples of Microsoft’s strategy to bring its games to a wider audience.
