Intel Arc Series May Get GDDR7 Support
Intel may be preparing to switch to the next-generation GDDR7 memory technology in its Arc series desktop graphics cards. Although no official announcement has been made yet, the company’s job postings indicate that this transition may be closer than we think. Intel’s shift to GDDR7 in the graphics card market, where competition is fierce, has attracted the attention of users who want to raise the performance bar.
Intel Arc Series May Be Powered by GDDR7
The new job postings that have emerged indicate that Intel is working on next-generation graphics cards with GDDR7 memory support. It is estimated that these cards will move beyond the Battlemage architecture currently on the market and switch from GDDR6 to GDDR7. Thanks to its higher bandwidth and lower power consumption, GDDR7 is capable of providing significant performance increases in many areas from games to professional workloads.
The Intel Arc Battlemage and AMD Radeon RX 9000 series currently on the market still use GDDR6 memory. On the other hand, manufacturers such as Samsung and Micron have already switched to GDDR7 production. This suggests that Intel is waiting for the right time to switch to the new standard. The new cards are expected to offer strong alternatives in certain segments, even if they are not direct competitors to NVIDIA and AMD.
It remains unclear when exactly GDDR7-supported Intel graphics cards will be released. However, the upcoming Computex 2025 and the Advancing AI events in June may be the most suitable venues for the introduction of this new hardware. It is also possible that Intel will offer its first GDDR7-supported cards not directly to gamers, but to systems focused on AI or workstations.
Although the information we have at the moment is limited, these job postings show that Intel is determined to continue its claim in the graphics card market. For now, all eyes are on Computex to see what GDDR7 will add to the Arc series.
