Is Wanted 2 Movie Coming?

The action film Wanted, released in 2008, attracted great attention with James McAvoy in the lead role. Despite the 17 years that have passed, there has still been no official announcement about the sequel Wanted 2. However, the film’s co-screenwriter Derek Haas announced that the script is ready and the project is still on the agenda.

Wanted 2 Script Ready, Eyes on Universal

Derek Haas stated in an interview with ScreenRant that a script written for Wanted 2 is still valid and that he is open to the project. Haas, who also called on James McAvoy, said, “Let’s bring Wesley back to life,” and expressed that they are open to reuniting the original cast.

In the first film, McAvoy’s Wesley Gibson character transformed from an ordinary office worker into a deadly assassin. The film was adapted from Mark Millar’s comic book and included names such as Angelina Jolie and Morgan Freeman. The sequel to the production, which was a great success at the box office, has been talked about for a long time.

Universal Pictures brought the project back to the agenda in 2011 and reassigned Haas and Brandt. However, the film has not made any progress since then. Haas pointed out that everything can change at any time in Hollywood with the words, “Never say never in this city.”

It was also reminded that James McAvoy approached the project positively in an interview. The successful actor continues to take part in projects in different genres after his roles in the X-Men and Unbreakable trilogy. If Universal gives the green light, it seems possible that he will return to the role of Wesley. However, Wanted 2 is not an officially announced project for now.
