Kojima Returns to the Action Espionage Genre with Physint

Hideo Kojima is back on the agenda with his new projects as one of the most iconic names in the gaming world. Physint, which he has been working on in addition to Death Stranding 2, symbolizes Kojima’s return to the Metal Gear Solid style. This new espionage-themed game draws attention with both its technical approach and personal meaning.

Physint Was Shaped by a Personal Crisis

Kojima explained that the health problems he experienced during the pandemic were the inspiration for this project. In an interview with Edge Magazine, he stated that he realized that his fans missed a Metal Gear-style production and decided to take a step in this direction. This process reignited his interest in the espionage genre.

Physint is being published by Sony, just like the Death Stranding series. On the other hand, Kojima’s other project, the horror-themed OD, will be published by Microsoft. However, it was announced that both projects were affected by the voice actors’ strike. This caused delays in the development schedule.

The details of the game are not yet clear. However, Kojima says that Physint will have a structure that combines gaming and cinematic experiences. This means that the game will offer more than a classic espionage story. The developer believes that this structure, which will be created with the latest technology, will set a new standard in the genre.

Physint’s release date is not clear, but Kojima stated that it could take at least five or six years for the game to be released. This means that the game could be postponed until after the current console generation. For now, the focus seems to be on Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, which will be released for PlayStation 5 on June 26.
