Layoffs and Game Cancellations at Bandai Namco

Bandai Namco is losing hundreds of employees through layoffs and canceling some of its biggest projects. Despite recent sales successes like Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero, the company’s decisions raise many questions. Especially the cancellation of projects connected to the One Piece and Naruto series has caused great disappointment among fans.

Bandai Namco Layoffs and Game Cancellations

According to recent reports, Bandai Namco is using a controversial method called “oidashi beya” to fire employees. This tactic is based on the use of termination and demoralizing conditions to force employees to resign. According to Bloomberg’s report, around 200 employees have been subjected to this and 100 have resigned so far. While this news resonated widely in the gaming world, Bandai Namco’s denial of this practice drew attention. The company representative stated that employees experience downtime between projects, but that they don’t encourage anyone to quit by force.

However, in addition to the allegations, it was also revealed that the company canceled various game projects. In particular, projects tied to the One Piece and Naruto franchises have been halted or canceled altogether. A game developed for Nintendo is also among these cancelations. These developments raise serious questions about the future of the company.

Bandai Namco is going through a difficult time with these layoffs and cancelations. The cancellation of projects such as Blue Protocol and Tales of Rays further complicates the situation. Even though the company has a strong history in the gaming world, such massive layoffs and project suspensions increase uncertainty about the future.

It remains to be seen what Bandai Namco’s recovery strategy will be after such large-scale layoffs. While fans are worried about the future of their popular game series, the company is expected to take concrete steps on how to get out of this crisis.
