Paul Littmann, Vice President of Global Distribution at Sony Pictures Television, stated that the agreement further strengthens the collaboration between the two companies. According to Littmann, this model both preserves the value of the films and provides wider access to a global audience.

The Legend of Zelda movie is scheduled for release in May 2027. While details about the film are currently limited, previously shared information indicates that Bo Bragason will play Princess Zelda and Benjamin Evan Ainsworth will play Link. Filming is confirmed to have begun in 2025.

The Legend of Zelda movie will also coincide with the 40th anniversary of the series. This positions the production not just as a game adaptation, but as a significant milestone in the history of the series. With the Netflix deal, the film is expected to reach a much wider audience in the post-theatrical era.
