Mecha Break Is Popular On Steam But Reviews Are Negative
Mecha Break, which was flooded with players on Steam with its new open beta process, quickly became one of the most played games on the platform. The game, which achieved great success by reaching over 300 thousand players, also received a “Mostly Negative” rating in user reviews. Players’ criticisms are especially focused on server issues, microtransactions, and the anti-cheat system.
Criticized Aspects of Mecha Break
After Mecha Break became so popular in such a short time, it was reported that the servers could not handle the volume of players and experienced performance problems. The developer studio Amazing Seasun announced that it took steps to solve these problems and offered players various compensations called “Ultimate Maintenance Boxes”. However, the in-game economic system, which includes these boxes, has led to concerns among players about long-term balance problems.
Another criticism from players focuses on the slow way microtransactions and in-game currency are earned. It has been noted that it takes hundreds of matches to unlock all the mecha options in the game. Additionally, some players complain that even customization options require spending in-game currency.
Mecha Break uses a core-level anti-cheat system called ACE (Anti-Cheat Expert). While such systems generally provide more effective cheat detection, they can also cause privacy concerns for players. It has also been reported that Linux users have had trouble accessing the game due to this system.
Positive reviews of the game generally focus on the enjoyable nature of the mecha battles. Players praise the mecha and pilot customization options, the wide range of cosmetics, and the fighting mechanics. However, even these positive aspects have not been enough to offset the game’s generally negative user reviews. Mecha Break is set to be fully released in Q2 2025. The development team is working to fix the issues based on player feedback.
