Mortal Shell 2 Gameplay Trailer Released

Mortal Shell 2 stands out as the newest installment in the Souls-like series, distinguished by its unique mechanics. The new trailer shows that while familiar systems are retained, the gameplay has expanded to a wider scope. The character variety and world design, in particular, give the impression that this sequel is positioned in a more ambitious way.

Mortal Shell 2 Gameplay Trailer Shows New Mechanics

The released gameplay trailer highlights three different Shell characters. Tiel offers a more agile playstyle with fast movements and evasiveness, while Eredrim promises a direct damage-focused experience with heavy weapons and powerful attacks. Proxima, offering a different approach, stands out with her grappling hook mechanics and electrical-based attacks. This variety allows players to switch between different play styles.

The Shell system, a core mechanic of the series, is also returning. Players can utilize the abilities of different warriors by using their bodies. However, as damage increases, the character separates from the Shell, making risk management more crucial during combat. This structure aims to offer a more fluid experience while maintaining the strategic gameplay of the first game.

The trailer also provides important clues about the world structure. It is stated that the game will be spread across a vast open world with more than 60 dungeons. There will also be central points where players can change their equipment and fast travel. This indicates a more free structure in terms of exploration and progression.

The combat system retains classic Souls-like elements. Mechanics such as evasion, counter-attack, and breaking enemy defenses are still prominent. However, one of the notable details this time is the addition of firearms. The appearance of heavy weapons like the Gatling gun in the trailer adds a new layer to the gameplay of the series. Mortal Shell 2 will be released this year for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC, and an open beta is planned for PC players in the summer.
