Naughty Dog Confirms Secret Project
Naughty Dog, known for its The Last of Us and Uncharted series, has confirmed another surprise project as it continues to develop its new game Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet. Studio head Neil Druckmann announced that a second game is in development and said that he is taking on the role of producer in the process.
Naughty Dog Focuses on Another New Project
“There is another game in development at Naughty Dog right now. I am more of a producer on this game and I get to watch the other team, mentor them, give feedback and intervene when necessary,” Neil Druckmann said on the podcast “Press X To Continue” where he was a guest. This statement confirms that the studio is allocating resources to another project that is being kept secret outside of Intergalactic.
The first rumors about this new game came to the fore in March, and it was claimed that the project had been in development for about three years. One of the notable claims about this project, which has so far been officially stated as not The Last of Us Part III, is that Shaun Escayg is in the director’s chair. Escayg previously served as creative director on Uncharted: The Lost Legacy.
It is not known whether the game, whose name has not yet been announced, belongs to the Uncharted universe. However, rumors have increased recently that an Uncharted game focusing on Cassie Drake, the daughter of the series’ protagonist Nathan Drake, is being worked on. This indicates that the new project may continue the series in a different direction.
With this new project, Naughty Dog continues to develop both its new IP Intergalactic and this secret production, which is most likely a sequel, simultaneously. Official details of both projects may be announced in the coming months.
