Reasons Behind the Change in Battlefield

After most of the experienced developers on the creative team of Battlefield left, the future of the series is being shaped by EA’s new strategies. According to rumors, there have been a number of structural changes after DICE’s former general manager Patrick Bach left the studio in 2016. After Battlefield 2042 failed to achieve the expected success, EA began to restructure the project by bringing Vince Zampella to the helm of the series.

In the process, some of Battlefield’s former developers have established their own studios, while names like Patrick Söderlund have left DICE to form new companies. In particular, Söderlund’s transfer of talent from Embark Studio to DICE has led EA to adopt a different approach to the future of the series.

The reboot version of Battlefield aims to bring a new breath to the series. New-generation developers plan to re-shine the series in the multiplayer-focused FPS genre with the experience gained from successful EA games such as Apex Legends. It is stated that EA aims to achieve great success with this project at a time when live service games are becoming increasingly competitive.

Although the decision to reboot Battlefield means a big change for fans of the series, some players believe that these innovations will take the series to a stronger position. Now, all eyes will be on the first reboot game, which the team led by Zampella will release in 2026. This new beginning could redefine Battlefield’s place in the FPS world.
