No Rest for the Wicked May Not Come to Xbox
Recently, every console gamer has been eagerly awaiting news of Moon Studios’ new project, No Rest for the Wicked. The team, which made its name with the Ori series, is currently working on a highly ambitious action-RPG. However, this excitement may be overshadowed for the Xbox community. According to reports, the game will likely focus on the PS5 and Switch 2. The Xbox version remains unclear for now.
No Rest for the Wicked Could Upset Xbox Users
A statement made by the studio’s CEO, Thomas Mahler, on Discord significantly dampened Xbox hopes. “Due to current market conditions, we may be able to focus on the PS5 and Switch 2,” he said. While discussions with Microsoft will continue, the Xbox side remains a question mark for now.
It’s believed that Mahler’s decision was influenced by the Xbox Series X|S’s low sales. The PS5’s sales figures are twice as high, and the Switch 2 is coming in like a storm. The development team may naturally be looking to focus their efforts on a larger audience.
Another aspect of the issue lies in the technical details. The Xbox Series S’s hardware limitations have caused optimization issues in many games. Examples like Baldur’s Gate 3, in particular, suggest that the same issue may be occurring in No Rest for the Wicked.
On the other hand, the game isn’t yet stable in terms of performance even on PC. Therefore, the team appears to be prioritizing quality over multi-platform support. However, an official “no” hasn’t yet been issued to reassure Xbox users. We’ll have to wait and see.
