PlayStation 5 Price Is Rising
Sony Interactive Entertainment has made an important update regarding PlayStation 5 prices. The company has increased the recommended retail price of PlayStation 5 in regions such as Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Australia and New Zealand. There are economic reasons behind this decision, such as high inflation rates and fluctuating exchange rates. At the same time, a price reduction was announced for the PlayStation 5 disc drive. These changes, which will come into effect as of April 14, 2025, vary by region.
PlayStation 5 Prices Updated by Region
According to the new prices, the PlayStation 5 Digital Edition model in Europe has been determined as 499.99 Euros. With this increase, the price in the UK has also increased from 389.99 GBP to 429.99 GBP. However, there has been no change in the price of the standard model, the version with the Ultra HD Blu-ray disc drive. The same applies to other regions.
In Australia, the price of the standard model has been increased from AU$799.95 to AU$829.95. The price of the PlayStation 5 Digital Edition model has increased from AU$679.95 to AU$749.95, an increase of around $50 to $70.
The increases in New Zealand are also notable. The model with an Ultra HD Blu-ray disc drive has a new price of NZ$949.95, up from NZ$899.95. The Digital Edition model has been increased from NZ$769.95 to NZ$859.95, an increase of between $60 and $90 for both models.
It should also be noted that the price changes only apply to certain models. The PlayStation 5 Pro model and the existing standard model will remain largely unchanged, while the price increase only applies to the PlayStation 5 Digital Edition models. In addition, there will be a global discount on the disc drive accessory. New prices will vary by region.
