The latest supposed Game Awards “leak” claims to reveal multiple announcements that are supposedly taking place at the show. The rumor seems to stem from a Threads post made by laksus_11, citing Just Play It, and has since gotten attention on the Gaming Leaks and Rumors subreddit, amassing over 500 upvotes and counting. The post claims that fans can look forward to “something related” to God of War, a DLC announcement for Rise of the Ronin, a Split Fiction release date from Hazelight Studios’ Josef Fares, a Crimson Desert release date, a The First Berserker Khazan release date, a Dune Awakening release date, and potentially more news on The Perceiver and two Chinese games. However, the post leaves room for the latter to potentially be at an upcoming PlayStation event instead.
No evidence is provided to back up these claims. It should also be stressed that even if all of these supposed Game Awards 2024 announcements are true, there would still be a lot more at the show. The Game Awards has traditionally featured more world premiere announcements than it has focused on actual awards, and beyond that, it’s usually around 3.5 hours long.
