Predator: Badlands Prequel Coming
Predator: Badlands, the new installment in the cult series, is set to hit theaters this year. However, this return won’t be limited to just the film; it’s supported by new content that will expand fans’ perspective on the universe. The newly revealed details, with this surprise retelling of the story, have generated considerable excitement within the Predator community.
Predator: Badlands Movie to Be Preceded by a Prequel
Predator: Badlands will be released on November 7th. A prequel comic book, published by Marvel Comics to coincide with the film’s release, will also be released. This single-issue adventure, co-authored by director Dan Trachtenberg, will shed light on the backstory of the characters we’ll see in the film, giving audiences the opportunity to experience the journey they’ll see on the big screen within a deeper context.
The comic will focus on the story of the series’ new character, the young Yautja warrior Dek. Introduced in the film as a hunter ostracized from his own clan, Dek crosses paths with Thia and is drawn into a dangerous struggle. The prequel will explore the beginning of this journey and the critical moments that shape Dek’s identity and destiny.
The single-issue adventure, written by writer Ethan Sacks and artist Elvin Ching, expands the Predator universe by bridging the gap between comics and film. Following Disney’s acquisition of 20th Century Fox, Predator, along with franchises like Alien and Planet of the Apes, came under the Marvel umbrella. This collaboration marks the series’ entry into a new era, both visually and narratively.
Trachtenberg emphasized that the comic will be an integral part of the film. Both the director and the Marvel team state that the prequel will offer a side story complementing the atmosphere of the Badlands. Seeing Dek’s own adventure unfold in the comics will make the film’s journey even more special for fans. This simultaneous experience, which will be available both on screen and on shelves in November, will bring Predator fans something unique.
