Prologue: Go Wayback! Now Free

Prologue: Go Wayback! has unexpectedly returned to the spotlight following recent bad news. The PlayerUnknown team announced that the game, currently in early access, is now available for free to anyone who wants to own it. This decision comes after the game, previously priced at $19.99, was discontinued following layoffs and the team’s demise. The studio stated that securing funding is becoming increasingly difficult in the current industry and that they will continue to seek the right partners with a smaller team for the project’s future.

Final Update Released for Prologue: Go Wayback!

In a statement, PlayerUnknown expressed regret at not being able to complete the game as planned. Despite this, the developers chose not to completely silence the project by releasing a final update for Prologue: Go Wayback! This update adds new systems, items, and various technical improvements to the game.

Among the most notable new features in the update are the Path and Trails systems. These two systems offer players new subtle touches to exploration with different setting options. Two new items, the Handheld Weather Monitor and Waterproof Spray, have also been added to the game, making the survival experience a bit more detailed in the early access version.

Gameplay has also seen some adjustments. The cooking system has been improved, liquid management has been made more user-friendly, and the visuals of cooked food have been enhanced. Alarm clocks now consume less power. The persistence system for auxiliary items such as flashlights, batteries, lighters, etc., has also been reworked to work more consistently.

In terms of atmosphere, lighting, clouds, fog, sun, and moon effects have been updated. A more balanced transition between indoor and outdoor sounds has been achieved. While all these additions may not be enough to save the game, the fact that Prologue: Go Wayback! is now free offers players curious about the project at least a risk-free trial opportunity. Especially for those who followed the early access process, this final version shows more clearly where the project aims to go.
