PS6 Will Also Have AMD
Sony’s game consoles division’s chief system architect Mark Cerny announced in a 37-minute presentation where he explained the technical features of the PlayStation 5 Pro that the company has signed a new partnership with AMD called “Project Amethyst.” This partnership, in which artificial intelligence and machine learning technologies will be used to advance game graphics, will also form the basis of PlayStation’s next-generation consoles.
PlayStation’s Technology Breakthrough
According to Cerny’s statements, PSSR (PlayStation Shader Reconstruction) technology is one of the first fruits of this partnership. Thanks to this technology, the graphic quality in games will increase significantly, while performance will not be compromised. It was also stated that improved versions of ray tracing technology are being worked on.
The multi-year collaboration agreement between Sony and AMD will play a critical role in the development of next-generation PlayStation consoles. Within the scope of Project Amethyst, work will be done on the optimization of advanced features such as AI-supported graphics technologies and ray tracing.
Thanks to this collaboration, PlayStation 6 is planned to have a more powerful hardware infrastructure. Experts predict that this strategic partnership will increase Sony’s competitiveness in the gaming market and open the doors to a new era in console games.
It is stated that the AI technologies that Cerny particularly emphasized in his presentation will completely change the gaming experience and pave the way for more realistic graphics. The results of this collaboration with AMD will first be tested on the PS5 Pro and the experiences gained will be used in next-generation console developments. Gaming industry analysts emphasize that this move could be a significant turning point not only for PlayStation but for the entire gaming industry.
