[Rumor] Nintendo Switch 2 Release Might be Revealed
An executive at a gaming peripheral company is claiming that Nintendo Switch 2 could launch as early as next March or April.
Nintendo Switch 2 Release
For a very long time, fans have wondered how Nintendo would follow its massively successful Switch console, and earlier this year they finally received official confirmation that new Nintendo hardware is on the way. Back in May, Nintendo president Shunatro Furukawa announced that the tentatively named Nintendo Switch 2 will be revealed at some point before the end of the current fiscal year next March.
Since then, Nintendo itself didn’t shared any further details about its new Switch successor console, with a further comment from Furukawa indicating that it likely won’t be released until April 2025 at the earliest.
Ruben Mercado is the CEO of Blade, a company that sells peripherals for a wide variety of gaming systems such as the Nintendo Switch. While speaking with gaming news website Vandal (via ComicBook), Mercado claimed that the Nintendo Switch 2 console is actually finished and that his company already has access to “practically final consoles.” He went on to claim that the exact release date for the Switch 2 will partially depend on Nintendo’s financials for the year and that if things go well the Big N could drop its new system sometime at the end of March or beginning of April.
Mercado went on to support some other rumors and leaks about the Nintendo Switch successor, claiming that it will have magnetic Joy-Con controllers that attach to the sides of the console and joysticks that will look different from the ones used by the original Switch. He also said that Nintendo is aiming for a simultaneous global launch for the new console and will aim to produce enough units to avoid the supply issues that plagued the releases of the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S back in 2020.
It’s worth noting that Blade is a legitimate peripheral company, so Ruben Mercado’s claims about the Nintendo Switch 2’s release window seem to have some weight behind them. However, it should also be pointed out that Nintendo didn’t revealed their next console yet. So take these information with a grain of salt until Nintendo makes an official announcement.
