Runs on Elden Ring Switch 2

Elden Ring, one of the most talked-about games in the gaming world, is making headlines with its Tarnished Edition, specially designed for the Switch 2. The initial impressions revealed at Gamescom and the short video shared by Bandai Namco subsequently didn’t resonate as positively as fans expected. Instead, they raised questions about the port’s performance.

Elden Ring Switch 2 Port Draws Controversy

Initial reports revealed that the game was running at a low frame rate. The fact that gameplay footage wasn’t allowed to be recorded at the event venue further fueled concerns. A short video shared by Bandai Namco on Facebook was released to showcase the port’s performance, but players immediately noticed the performance issues.

You can access the video via this link.

The video only shows the character in the beginning slowly wandering around a small area. The lack of any fight scenes or open-world sections was notable. Players, in particular, interpreted the video’s ending just before the Grafted Scion boss fight as an attempt to conceal the performance drop.

Community reaction in the comments was quite harsh. Phrases like “20 fps retro experience” and “who knows what will happen in the boss fight” quickly became popular comments. The fact that the shared footage was captured from a low-quality phone camera made it even more difficult to assess the game’s true performance.

The Switch 2’s ability to run heavy games like Cyberpunk 2077 better than expected had raised expectations for the Elden Ring port. However, the current outlook suggests the port has fallen short of expectations. Whether FromSoftware and Bandai Namco will further optimize the port remains to be seen.
