Scream 7 Broke the Series’ Box Office Record

The new film in the horror series, Scream 7, continues to perform strongly at the box office after its release. Despite its low rating on Rotten Tomatoes and controversial production process, the film has managed to become one of the most successful films in the series in terms of worldwide revenue. The figures reached at the end of the third weekend show that Scream 7 has crossed an important threshold in the franchise’s history.

Scream 7 Becomes the Highest-Grossing Film in the Series

According to data shared by Variety, Scream 7 reached a total of $176.9 million in worldwide revenue at the end of its third weekend. Of this figure, $107 million came from the US box office and $69.9 million from the international market.

With this result, the film surpassed the $173 million global gross of the first Scream film released in 1996, becoming the highest-grossing film in the series. Thus, Scream 7 set a new box office record in the seven-film history of the series.

However, it hasn’t yet reached the top spot at the US box office. The current domestic record belongs to Scream VI (2023), which earned a total of $108.4 million. Scream 7 needs to earn approximately $1.4 million more to break this record, and this is expected to happen soon.

On the other hand, the picture changes slightly when looking at total gross calculated for inflation. The original trilogy films grossed over $300 million with inflation. Therefore, while Scream 7 may not be the biggest film in the series according to adjusted figures, it is still considered one of the most successful productions of the modern era.
