Silent Hill 2 Remake Coming to Xbox and Switch 2
Silent Hill 2 Remake, a horror legend, may soon be leaving its quiet town and making its way to new consoles. Released in 2024 for PlayStation 5 and PC (Steam), the game was one of the most praised psychological horror games of the year. Now, developer Bloober Team has drawn attention with an update to its official website. Fans are interpreting this update as a strong indication of upcoming versions for Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2.
Silent Hill 2 Remake May Be Coming to New Consoles
According to a change noticed by Reddit user PracticalSubstance99, the blank spaces between the game platforms on Bloober Team’s official page indicate that new versions may be in the works. Fans have interpreted the two spaces next to the Steam and PlayStation logos on the site as “dedicated spaces for upcoming Xbox and Switch releases.” No official announcement has been made yet, but it’s rumored that the studio’s planned PS5 Pro update could also be accompanied by new platform announcements.
The most significant reason for this possibility is the game’s exclusive publishing deal expiring. Silent Hill 2 Remake’s PlayStation exclusive expires on October 8, 2025. This date is considered a very suitable timeframe for the release of the Xbox and Switch 2 versions. The release of Nintendo’s next-generation console, the Switch 2, is expected around this time, making the timing even more significant.
If the Xbox and Switch versions of the game are announced, fans can expect new surprises not only in terms of accessibility but also in terms of content. A leak on SteamDB revealed that a remake of the classic “Born from a Wish” expansion is in the works. This story focuses on the character of Maria from the original game and could be a significant addition that fans would appreciate if remade.
Bloober Team is also currently working on a full-scale remake of the first Silent Hill game. If these leaks are true, the studio appears determined to both bring the series to modern platforms and pay homage to the horror genre’s roots. If all goes well, James Sunderland’s nightmare journey could begin again on Xbox and Switch 2 in the fall of 2025.
