Splinter Cell Remake Director Returns
After a long lull in the Splinter Cell Remake, the project has seen a significant resurgence. The return of the director who led the game in its early years has injected new energy into both the development process and the fans of the series. While official details have not yet been released, there is high expectation that this change will accelerate the project.
Splinter Cell Remake Reunites with Its Director
David Grivel, who oversaw the project during the early stages of Splinter Cell Remake, has returned to Ubisoft Toronto after a period of absence and reassumed the director’s chair. This return is reportedly well-received within the studio and has helped the team regroup. This step is considered particularly critical for clarifying the development process.
The remake’s production, which began in 2021, has since experienced several pauses. The prolonged lack of concrete information about the project, codenamed “North,” has fueled concern among fans. It’s long been known that the game, redesigned for a modern audience, won’t be just a visual overhaul, further fueling anticipation.
According to previously revealed information, Splinter Cell Remake is being developed with the Snowdrop Engine and optimized for next-generation devices. While the intended release date for the game, which is being developed for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, was previously rumored to be 2026, it’s thought this date may have changed. Given the scope of the project, the request for additional time isn’t surprising.
Grivel’s return, while not a definitive announcement about the game’s future, strongly indicates that development is actively underway. There’s still cautious but hopeful anticipation for the series’ long-awaited return. All eyes are now on Ubisoft’s upcoming release and the first gameplay footage of the remake.
