Star Wars: Hunters End Date Announced
Star Wars: Hunters, which was released in a limited launch in 2021 and opened to global access with Nintendo Switch in 2024, is closing after a short journey. Zynga announced in a statement that the game will be completely offline on October 1, 2025. This announcement once again brought to the agenda the challenges faced by live service-based games in the gaming world.

Star Wars: Hunters was an arena-based shooter with original characters inspired by the Star Wars universe. The game, which was released in a limited release in certain regions in 2021, made its global launch in 2024. However, despite only 16 months having passed since its global access, the game did not receive the expected attention and Zynga decided to close the game.
Zynga plans to offer some “farewell gifts” for players ahead of the shutdown. The game’s current season will be extended by three more weeks, and a new hero will be introduced on April 15. Ranked leaderboards will also remain active until the game’s shutdown.
Star Wars: Hunters has been another victim of the increasingly difficult market conditions for live-service games. The recent shutdowns of other live-service games like Specter Divide have fueled debates about the sustainability of such games. Zynga’s shutdown highlights the difficulties in developing, marketing, and attracting a community of players.
